Turkish congresses of Hydatidology, North-Cyprus

9th National and 2nd International Congresses of Hydatidology
More than 50 researchers and clinicians gathered at the Near-East University, North Cyprus. The aims were to update the epidemic status of echinococcoses in Turkey and the Near-East, and to exchange about research and advances on diagnostic, treatment, monitoring, prevention and control. Invited speakers and participants came from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Peru, Romania, Switzerland, Turkey, UK, etc.
Pr. Mike Rogan (Salford, UK) and Pr. Patrick Giraudoux (Besançon, France), both members of GDRI EHEDE labs were invited by the Turkish Society of Hydatidology to give key-notes on diagnostic methods and ecohealth concepts applied to echinoccosis issues. Dominic West (PhD student, Salford, UK) presented a poster about the surveillance of E. granulosus on the Falkland Islands where the extirpation of this parasite has still not been fully achieved. Possible collaborations on this issue have been discussed.
